Abridge, a generative AI platform for clinical conversations, has finalized an enterprise-wide agreement with Seattle Children's Hospital to deploy its AI-powered ambient clinical intelligence platform across the health system, following a 90-day pilot covering 18 pediatric specialties.
Abridge offers an enterprise-grade AI platform that converts medical conversations into clinically functional and billable documentation at the point of care.
The hospital is utilizing Abridge's platform to reduce the documentation burden and promote its strategic vision for pediatric care innovation.
According to Abridge, during the pilot, Seattle Children's clinicians reported an average 79% reduction in documentation effort, with Abridge supporting 72% of eligible encounters.
Seattle Children's chose the platform for its ability to address the specific challenges associated with pediatric documentation, such as developmental milestones, multi-caregiver interactions and complex visit types.
Additionally, Seattle Children's will utilize Abridge's products, such as its visit-level diagnosis intelligence, which is a structured medical decision-making section customized for pediatric emergency medicine and progress notes for inpatient care.
"The conversations in pediatrics are unique and often involve multi-caregiver interactions," Dr. Shiv Rao, CEO and cofounder of Abridge, told MobiHealthNews.
"It is a privilege to partner with Seattle Children’s to develop specialty-specific pediatric notes that accurately capture this complexity to meet the moment and the mission."
THE LARGER TREND

Following a pilot to test Abridge's platform within Hartford's network, the pair now develops tools and scales its platform to nurses, advanced practitioner and physicians across Hartford HealthCare.
The companies said they will expand their collaboration in the future to explore how ambient AI can assist with revenue cycle management and nursing workflows, support point-of-care decision-making and assist in value-based care.
In August, Highmark Health launched its enterprise-wide collaboration with Abridge to deploy its ambient clinical documentation platform, collaborate on a paradigm-shifting prior authorization solution at the point of conversation and invest in other tools that integrate Abridge's AI technology.
Highmark Health includes a multi-state insurance services division (Highmark Inc.) and a 14-hospital care provider, Allegheny Health Network (AHN).
The first phase of the collaboration involved implementing Abridge's ambient clinical intelligence platform at AHN office locations and hospitals.
In July, Abridge collaborated with Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) to enhance clinical documentation, communication and care outcomes, starting at the point of conversation.
HSS implemented the Abridge AI platform across the enterprise to enhance patient care.
